This initiative is funded by the NJ Council on Developmental Disabilities and provided through the Elizabeth M. Boggs Center on Developmental Disabilities. It provides an in-depth course study for the caring and committed individuals who work “hands-on” with people with disabilities in residential, employment, day program and other support service settings. They provide the day to day care that helps create a better quality of life in the community for the people we care about.
It is important to support the growth and stability of a professional direct support workforce so that the people with disabilities we serve have the assistance they need from caregivers who are known to them and understand their needs. Creating a strong, stable direct support workforce means offering DSPs the opportunity for growth, promotion, training, advancement, peer mentors, education and support.
